Last week Kunskapsskolan made an excursion to the south parts of Gurgaon, to an area called Sushant Lok III. The goal was to plants trees for a greener Gurgaon (yes, very much needed).
Parents were encouraged to join if at all possible. Well, I did have a slot right between 9 and 10 that morning actually, so I brought a friend and asked Sanjay to take us to the HUDA Park, Opposite Plot No - 1257, Sector 52, Ardee City in Gurgaon. Hmmmm, he has been a driver for different companies and families for several years, but did not know where this was. Being a good driver, he stopped and asked :-)
The chosen one was this young cobbler who hid in his hut...
Hmmm, are you sure? There is a severe lack of trees, granted, but on the other hand, it does look like a dump.
Eventually, we spotted a caravan of yellow busses with the name Kunskapsskolan on them - yeah!
Out came 1, 2, 3, 4, ..... very many students. Actually grades 1-7, basically the whole school then.
The holes were dug already and the plants were laying on the ground next to each hole. The most popular holes were the ones in the shade of the only tree on the plot...
The plot next door was a settlement of some very poor people. The children gathered close to the fence and checked out what was going on with eyes wide open.
You can see some of them by the fence in this picture. I wonder what they are thinking looking at all the school children.
Maia and some of the other children found a pile of dirt and went to check it out and play, but were quickly told off. No playing. :-(
Trees planted and watered, job done. Maia and best buddy Trevor look content :-)
