Diwali party at The World Spa 2014

Preparations were going on the whole day. Here they are putting the dance floor together! Looking forward to that :-)
Getting there slowly but surely.
We are also getting ready on our balcony with a view of the preparations down below.
For those of you who read my previous blog, you know how tight it was to get my second saree!
Here it is! Turned out beautifully. Maia was not so interested in saree - well, children here do not wear sarees anyway - so she put on her nice clothes and looked beautiful as well.
Only one thing missing ... Some say they are only for men, some that women wear the same. I was just happy I found shoes my size!! ;-)
The entrance to the World Spa was so beautifully decorated, and on top of each house there was a row of lights. Many had decorated their balconies, and, as you see below, the club house and trees in front of it were covered in lights. I got a distinct Christmas feel!
It looks like the party area is all ready - and so are we, so lets go!
The entrance was very nicely decorated.
Let the festivities begin!

Indian parties start with mingling and entertainment. The food appears much later, and after having eaten, you go home.
The entertainment at this party was provided by some of the residents. Some had practiced for weeks, and they did a fabulous job - we were gobsmacked!
The compare, forget her name, used to be a model here in India!
The World Spa's own boy band. The lights kept changeing colour, so some pictures look a bit freaky ...
Some girls had practiced with a professional dancer and came up with this:
A few of the older residents had rummaged their wardrobes and found the most amazing sarees from different parts of the country. They performed as if they were on the cat walk - very impressive and exquisite fabrics!

And then the beautiful ladies of World Spa! They had practiced a lot in order to perform this amazing dance for us. Hail to you!
Check out the buffet! It ran from one end of the club house to the other with a choice of food from many different states in India. We tried a lot, but far from all. Everything was delicious. Then there was the dessert buffet ...

Oh, the bar you ask? Of course, unlimited beer, wine, gin and bacardi.

 Who, me?
After all that good food, we had to hit the dance floor for some exercise if nothing else! Yes, I know the quality is very very bad. Just scroll past if you can't bear it.
We met a lot of neighbours, some old aquaintances and a lot of new ones. The evening passed very quickly.

"I came in that way, there was a glitch in the screen wall" - "Oh, dear, well, that was not really the official entrance ..."
Mido and Lars had to figure out the way home. They live across the road, so I'm sure they made it somehow :-)

Good night and thanks for a very memorable evening!
