Tea plantation in Himachal Pradesh

A long weekend away from the hustle and bustle (and pollution) of Delhi/NCR area is sometimes needed. We decided to accept Surekha's offer of a weekend in the mountains.
Arriving at the cute little airport in Dharamsala.
A car picked us up and we started the journey towards Andretta village in Kangra where our homestay was. On the way we stopped at Wah Tea Estate.

A good picker can pick about 3-4kg in a day. I can't remember how much they got paid, but it was actually not too bad.
The picker gets paid according to weight.

Here the tea leaves are dried. The room was very hot and humid!

These people work with sorting the dried tea leaves according to size. There are 4 layers of mesh with different sizes - the smallest pieces fall through the first 3 and so on ...

A little taster of the different flavoured teas.

Mmmmm .... tea cures everything!
