Tuesday last week was a holiday here. Both Ian and Maia had the day off so we all went to a coffee morning with the Delhi Network expat group at the Eros Hotel in Delhi. It was really nice to share this experience of spending time and getting to know all the interesting people from all walks of life and every corner of the world that meet there every Tuesday, with my family.
Afterwards Sanjay took us to a house in Golf Links in the middle of Delhi - a family from the Netherlands have spent the last 2 years there and is now moving back home. Their house has a wonderful roof terrace and they had filled it with all kinds of plants, which were now up for sale. We bought 17 of them!! Well, we do have 4 balconies, so why not? :-) The collection also includes some herbs - they will do nicely in sallads, pasta dishes ... you name it.
By the time we left it was already past lunch time and a certain growling sound could be heard ... Maartjes understood our predicament and recommended Café Lota in the Craft Museum just around the corner.
The Craft Museum turned out to be a real oasis in the middle of Delhi! Free and outdoors and with an exhibition of wall painting, statues and much more from all over India. According to Trip Advisor: "History is brought to life at this excellent museum, where artisans demonstrate traditional embroidery, weaving, carving and pottery."
Chicken Meat balls, some sort of sauce and, as always, a fresh lime soda sweet for Maia.
Refreshed,re-energized and rejuvenated we took a little closer look at the place.
Check out these gorgeous stone carvings - I wish we could have curtains/mosquito nets like this :-)
Wall paintings from around India. They are like a documentary of life.
Friday night, the guy resting with his Gin & Tonic on his bed in the shade ...
... while the women harvest and cook ... They were a modern civilization already back then.
There are some very impressive and probably very old trees to give shade and ambience.
A little house from Chattisgarh.
Inside they had not bothered with wall paper. Instead these impressive paintings in 3D.
All in all a lovely place to spend an afternoon. We can recommend it :-)

We headed straight for the food and had a lovely meal in a nice environment.
Fish and chips à la Café Lota

Until next time we get hungry in Delhi.
