We now officially live in Gurgaon!
Everyone has told us how terrible it is to go and get registered.
We were very lucky - a colleague at Nestlé had already prepared everything (a LOT of documents) for us, he was there at 8 o'clock already and took a number, and got number 1 :-) He had told us to get there when they opened at 9.30. When we arrived at 9.20 there were already people waiting. Well, our magician played his tricks and we were out of there in 1,5 hours armed with VERY IMPORTANT PAPERS, to be COPIED MANY TIMES, SCANNED and LOCKED UP in a safe.
With the entertainment that was offered, time passed quickly:
Someone turned the ceiling fan on.
2 cords were hanging down right where the fan was, and when it started rotating it hit the cords, and one came off and hung down almost to the floor. Was this a live wire??! The fan was turned off and 5 men gathered to have a look and a serious discussion.
Once they left, two other men arrived on the scene, one of whom was carrying a ladder, the other a note pad.
Up the ladder he went, got a hold of the wire - turned out it was not live after all, but did he know that beforehand?? - produced a roll of tape and, hey, presto! Done.
"No, no, no, the wires are still hanging down a bit, and will come off as soon as the fan is started again - fix!" (but in Hindi)
Down he came, moved the ladder, then upp again, more tape, and problem was fixed. Supervisor looked pleased, congratulated himself for a job well done, and left.
... our morning at the FRO
